Hard time focusing on a task at hand? Take a break.
In this video, Jenni shares:
The focused, rational thinking part of our brains, the prefrontal cortex, can only focus on one task at a time. And when we’re stressed, when we’re tired, hungry or thirsty, it’s hard for the prefrontal cortex to focus at all. It’s overloaded.
Rather than continually trying to focus on the activity that is requiring all our brain power, take a break. Getting rest and refueling allows the prefrontal cortex to get the energy it needs. Then, when we do get back to our cognitive task, we’re more efficient and more focused.
